# Guidelines
You won't be banned for ignoring these, but please abide by them anyway:
1. **Tag your posts** - this makes searching/filtering easy for everyone. For example, use `[Canine]` for dogs/wolves, `[Equine]` for horses, etc. If you don't know the word you need, [here's a list of animal adjectives](https://grammarist.com/usage/animal-adjectives/).
2. **Credit the artist** - If possible, credit the artist's name at the end of your post title. If you're not sure who the original creator is, you can use [SauceNAO](https://saucenao.com/) to find out.
3. **Respect the instance** - The instance is generously hosted for us, *for free*. When uploading content, the least we can do is take a minute to efficiently compress our media so as not to unnecessarily consume their storage space and bandwidth.
You can use [Squoosh](https://squoosh.app/) to compress images (including animated gifs!) to WebP, or any online video converter to convert a video to a WebM. FFmpeg is also a good option if you're comfortable with the command-line.
